PURPOSE Describe the intent of this position

Supports the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems within our aluminium smelter plant.

He/she plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of design deliverables, adhering to project schedules, and maintaining the high safety and quality standards of the company.Page 2 of 3

Ensure all work is well designed and guaranteed to deliver safe outcomes;
Ensure that material risks are identified, and related critical controls are implemented and are effective;
Build and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders, i.e., Operations Superintendents, Supervisors, Engineers and Maintainers.
Technical support

Perform design calculations and develop electrical systems, schematics, and layouts for aluminium smelter plant projects;
Collaborate with Electrical Engineers, Instrumentation Engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery;
Produce detailed electrical design drawings, including wiring diagrams, power distribution, motor control centres, and instrumentation systems;
Review and interpret technical specifications, codes, and standards to ensure compliance withindustry practices;
Ensure safety in design, particularly for high-voltage systems and hazardous areas within the smelter;
Provide technical input during project planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases;
Identify and implement design improvements and innovations to enhance system reliability and efficiency;
Assist in the integration of emerging technologies and best practices into project designs;
Ensure all relevant change control documentation are updated to “as-built” status.Page 3 of 3

Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools);
Strong knowledge of electrical standards, regulations, and codes (e.g., SANS, IEC, NEC, etc.);
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail;
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
Fluent in Portuguese and English.
Experience

Minimum of 10-15 years of experience as an Electrical Designer, with at least 5 years in heavy industrial projects, preferably in aluminium smelters or related industries;
Experience with high-voltage systems, power distribution, and instrumentation design.

Relevant Degree in Electrical Engineering.
